The
Eiffel Tower was originally built for the
International Exhibition of Paris of 1889 to commemorate the 100th anniversary
of the French Revolution. Today the Eiffel
Tower is probably the most famous attraction in
Paris. Get terrific views of the city from one
of the tower's three observation decks,
then stay for a bite to eat in the Tower's
restaurant and bar.
Bishop
Maurice de Sully laid the first stone of the
Notre Dame Cathedral in 1163. One of the most
awe-inspiring structures in the world, Notre
Dame is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture.
Millions of visitors spend hours at the
cathedral admiring the sheer size of the
building, along with its intricate features such as
flying buttresses, grimacing gargoyles and the
apse.
The
Louvre is the largest and arguably the most
renowned museum in the world. The building
itself is 800 years old, and the treasures
within represent centuries of priceless art. No visit to Paris
is complete
without spending at least an afternoon (or a
couple of afternoons) in this incredible
museum.
Villa
Beaumarchais is a lovely hotel located in
Marais, close to such notable Parisian
attractions as the Place des Vosges, the
Pomidou Centre and Pere Lachaise. The
guestrooms, which are large for the city, are
delicately appointed with antique-style
furniture and all the modern amenities
expected by today's traveler.
The
Hilton Paris is an excellent choice for business travelers and upscale vacationers on
the go. The hotel's atmosphere may be rather familiar and
comfortable, but its location right next to
the Eiffel Tower will remind you that you're
still in Paris. The hotel is best suited for those
who want a convenient location rather than the
amenities of a resort-style hotel.
The culmination of
excellent service, great location and regal
surroundings, Le Warwick Champs-Elysees has been
the hotel of choice for celebrities and other
visiting notables since 1981. The excitement of
the Champs-Elysees' cafes, boutiques and of
course the Arc de Triomphe, are just steps away.
